The Climate Change Adaptation Initiative, sponsored by USAID – From the American People, focuses on building community resilience to the impacts of climate change. The program promotes sustainable environmental practices, disaster risk reduction, and adaptive strategies to protect livelihoods, natural resources, and ecosystems.
Communities in climate-sensitive areas face increasing threats from floods, droughts, landslides, and changing weather patterns, which affect agriculture, water resources, and livelihoods. This program addresses these challenges by implementing climate-resilient agricultural practices, promoting natural resource management, and supporting local adaptation strategies.
The initiative collaborates with community members, local authorities, and environmental organizations to design and implement solutions that reduce vulnerability and enhance long-term resilience.
Climate change poses significant risks to vulnerable communities, including loss of livelihoods, food insecurity, and environmental degradation. The program aims to empower communities to adapt to climate challenges, protect natural resources, and strengthen their capacity to respond to environmental shocks.
