The Citizen’s Engagement for Peacebuilding program, sponsored by HELVETAS Nepal, aims to strengthen community-led peace initiatives by promoting dialogue, social cohesion, and conflict resolution mechanisms. The program focuses on empowering citizens to actively participate in building peaceful and resilient communities.
Communities affected by social tensions and local conflicts often lack the mechanisms to resolve disputes peacefully. This program addresses these challenges by fostering citizen participation, promoting dialogue between groups, and strengthening local governance and mediation structures.
The initiative works with community leaders, youth groups, women’s networks, and local authorities to create platforms for inclusive decision-making, collective problem-solving, and sustained peacebuilding.
Social tensions and unresolved local conflicts can disrupt development, reduce trust, and harm vulnerable populations. The program seeks to empower citizens, strengthen community-level conflict resolution mechanisms, and promote long-term peace and social cohesion.
