The Promotion of Tharu Rights in Kapilvastu District project, supported by the European Commission, aimed to protect and promote the social, economic, cultural, and political rights of the Tharu community. The program focused on addressing discrimination, enhancing access to justice and public services, and strengthening community participation in local governance processes.
The Tharu community in Kapilvastu District has historically faced social exclusion, limited access to resources, and barriers to participation in decision-making processes. The project sought to address these challenges through awareness campaigns, legal literacy programs, advocacy efforts, and capacity-building initiatives.
By working closely with community leaders, local government bodies, civil society organizations, and youth groups, the project aimed to strengthen the voice and representation of the Tharu community while promoting equality and social justice.
Marginalization, discrimination, and limited civic participation continue to hinder the advancement of the Tharu community in Kapilvastu District. The project aimed to promote equal rights, improve access to services and justice, and empower the Tharu community to actively participate in governance and development processes.
