The Self-Help Promotion Program (SHPP), supported by GTZ , aimed to empower marginalized and low-income communities through self-help group formation and capacity building. The program focused on strengthening local institutions, promoting savings and credit activities, and enhancing livelihoods through community-led development approaches.
The Self-Help Promotion Program was designed to reduce poverty and social exclusion by mobilizing communities into self-help groups (SHGs). These groups encouraged collective savings, internal lending, skill development, and income-generating activities.
The program emphasized building local leadership, improving financial literacy, and enhancing access to economic opportunities. By strengthening grassroots institutions, the project aimed to create sustainable community development and long-term socio-economic empowerment.
Limited access to financial resources, lack of livelihood opportunities, and weak community institutions contribute to persistent poverty among marginalized populations. The Self-Help Promotion Program sought to empower communities through collective action, financial inclusion, and skill enhancement, enabling them to improve their economic and social well-being sustainably.
Community Mobilization – Forming and strengthening self-help groups.
Capacity Building – Training members in leadership, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.
Savings & Credit Promotion – Encouraging regular savings and internal lending systems.
