Girls rights against negative tradition(Grant)

The Girls’ Rights Against Negative Tradition (Grant) project, implemented in partnership with AmplifyChange, aims to protect and promote the rights of adolescent girls by addressing harmful traditional practices. The project focuses on eliminating practices such as child marriage, gender-based discrimination, and other social norms that restrict girls’ education, health, and decision-making rights. Through community engagement, advocacy, and awareness programs, the initiative empowers girls to claim their rights and live free from harmful traditions.

Project Overview

In many communities, deeply rooted social norms and harmful traditional practices continue to limit girls’ opportunities and expose them to early marriage, school dropout, gender-based violence, and restricted access to sexual and reproductive health information.

The Girls’ Rights Against Negative Tradition project works at community, school, and policy levels to challenge these practices. By engaging parents, religious leaders, youth groups, and local authorities, the project promotes positive social norms and strengthens support systems for adolescent girls.

Problem Statement

Harmful traditional practices and gender inequality continue to prevent girls from reaching their full potential. The project seeks to transform negative social norms, empower girls with knowledge and confidence, and create supportive environments where girls can exercise their rights safely and freely.

Our Approach

Rights-Based Framework – Promoting girls’ rights to education, health, and protection.

Community Mobilization – Engaging families, leaders, and influencers to shift harmful norms.

Youth Empowerment – Building girls’ leadership, advocacy, and life skills.

Advocacy & Policy Engagement – Supporting enforcement of laws against harmful practices.

Awareness & Education Campaigns – Increasing knowledge about gender equality and SRHR (Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights).

Project Objectives

  1. Reduce harmful traditional practices such as child marriage.
  2. Increase awareness of girls’ rights and gender equality.
  3. Promote positive social and behavioral change at community level.
